Do the math and you’ll realise that each player will be ultimately marked out of 100. These scores will be revealed in a separate piece, once all the essays are done. We’ve also got 4 players to write about and each writer will provide a score out of 25 for these players. Since we’ve got 5 metrics and each metric is scored out of 5, the player will get a score out of 25. The score assigned for the player by the writer tasked with the essay will either be revealed at the end or form the basis of the piece. We will provide a score out of 5 for each metric. We’ll be using the following metrics to rate each Dutchman: We decided to take inspiration from The Ringer’s Shea Sarrano, who came up with his own quirky metrics to rank different seasons and players in his book Basketball (and Other Things): A Collection of Questions Asked, Answered, Illustrated and gave it our own little spin. The essays will be part of a series that also serves as a little game to see who ranks as the greatest Dutch Red of them all. The Busby Babe staff felt that it was only right that we celebrate some of the club’s greatest Dutch Reds by coming up with short essays on them. Old Trafford’s been home to many a great Dutchman, from the flying figures of Edwin van der Saar and Robin van Persie to the fierce like Jaap Stam and Ruud van Nistelrooy. Erik ten Hag’s been at the hot seat for a little over a month with Frenkie de Jong and Tyrell Malacia likely to join him and Donny van de Beek. There’s a Dutch flavour to everything around Manchester United at the moment.

I did try pushing a small piece from the ancient MapSource app, which allowed the push of some 2022.10 maps, but didn't provide the code, so the Zumo showed the same error on boot. If you try and use MapInstall to push directly to the Zumo, it will only show mapsets that have an unlock code created - it will not allow a push of the 2022.10 maps. That initial push of a small version of the mapset is necessary to get the unlock code to the Zumo so it can open the maps on the SD card, and that path looks like it's no longer available. With MapInstall - you can push the whole mapset to an SD card, but when you put that SD card back into the Zumo, on boot it will say "Can't unlock maps". I went back to an earlier version of Garmin Express from a backup (7.1.3), but on launch that program forces an update to 7.4.1 - and that version has the same behavior as the current, it will not allow choosing a smaller mapset for these 2022.10 maps. reinstall sd card into 550 and reboot the GPSīut with the current version of Garmin Express (7.6.0), when you try and push the maps to the device - it no longer gives any prompts about choosing a smaller mapset, it simply states that the device doesn't have enough memory - please contact Garmin for options. Copy SD card contents to NAS (only necessary if you want a backup) Use MapInstall to push all maps directly to SD card Copy device memory contents to NAS (only necessary if you want a backup) only delete GMAPPROM.IMG on GPS itself (can leave gmapprom.gma) push 2021.30 straight to GPS via Garmin Express, also to PC to activate it (even if already there) - it only pushes Canada and Border States physical stores and thousands of people, the automobiles sold at Droom are cheaper than other options available to the consumers. Normally, the Vortex is in PF (Patch Function?) Mode. I’m guessing there must be a way to exchange SysEx information with a computer through the USB, but it is not documented. Otherwise, I would need a pencil and paper to make a list (and tape it to the Vortex?). I still haven’t found a way to know which patch is active at a particular moment, except right after switching! So, I tend to use one or two patches at the most. I still haven’t found a way to tell what parameter has been modified for a particular button except to go in Patch Edit Mode and edit the button. I still haven’t found a way to save patches on a computer. Hopefully, Alesis will change this in the future. Also because you have to reprogram the Vortex quite often, especially since there is NO way to know what is already programmed, and NO way to save the programs on a computer. I decided to write this guide because I kept forgetting how certain buttons were programmed, and because as of this writing (2012/12), Alesis still hasn’t produced a detailed manual. This time, I examine the messages coming out of the Vortex and look at the programming of the different switches and sensors. In the previous post, I looked at the inside of the Alesis Vortex. They are noted in their respective sections: Pitch Wheel, Pads. The new Firmware/Software combination kind of makes this page less relevant. I tested the manual programming of the new Firmware (1.20) changes. UPDATE : Alesis posted a new firmware (1.20) and the Vyzex Patch Editing software on their site. This Alesis Vortex User Guide is available as a PDF file. Microsoft requires that any 2013 versions be uninstalled, which it will offer to do automatically, before the 2016 versions can be installed. I’m hoping to get a similar improvement here. I find streaks particularly motivating – once started, I don’t want to break it! – and I’ve used them to great effect when making changes to my fitness and personal finances. The message at the top tells me my current streak – how many days up to now I’ve written a journal. This is the sort of visualisation I find quite helpful:ĭays when I’ve written a journal entry are highlighted in colour, with a darker shade on days when I wrote more. Last night, I wrote a quick Python script that visually shows me when I’ve been journalling. If I don’t write a journal, I miss that opportunity. My journals are an opportunity for reflection and thought, and a way to spot where I should be making changes. I am unable to tell you how to read my stories, but hopefully you read them in a way that is meaningful to you.I try to write a daily journal, and I find it useful when I do, but I’ve been struggling to sustain the habit. And not only where others can see it, but can apply the words into the context of their own life. So, although I still do love the artistry that comes with sitting down with a pen and paper to get my thoughts in order, there is something special about writing about life in a way where others can see it. Furthermore, I have also found that by using an online platform, I am more inclined to also write about what I learned from an experience, rather than just the negatives. It forces me to express myself in a way that is legible and healthy (because it is public) instead of ruminating in misfortunes. It is comforting to know that you never are alone. Whether it be through me reading about others stories, or others reaching out about my own, it is so nice to be able to find support in one another. It gives me a way to connect with others - to share a sense of unity between thoughts, feelings and experiences. The idea of sharing these stories and lessons with others as a way to provide inspiration or some sort of growth is important to me. As much as having a piece of paper in a journal filled with similar pieces of paper may be touchable, it was only ever within my reach. I can get the thoughts out of my head and into something that is malleable and possibly useful. Here is what it has provided me with so far: So, I turned to a public platform… Medium. I wanted to see if others experienced the same things that I did, and if maybe my words could help someone else the way that so many others’ words have helped me. As I mentioned, writing is a way for me to connect with others - and a journal at my bedside table was just not cutting it. I loved every piece of writing that I did and would not stop writing something until it felt perfect (to me).īut alas, here we are. I would write stories, opinion pieces, classic journal entries, and everything in between. I would also spend time inside during breaks at school, writing and creating on extra handouts that teachers would provide me with. For example, when I was little the idea of talking to my dad in a heated conversation was uncomfortable, so I would write to him out instead - sliding a note across the dinner table in response. Moreover, many of those moments that I did not write would have likely helped me and provide some introspection.Īs I mentioned, words have always been the way that I felt as though I could connect and learn about myself, as well as others. It’s too bad that I did this looking back now, as those forgetful moments led to gaps and cliffhangers throughout my journals and entries. Growing up, I would go through phases of writing consistently in my journals before casually throwing them aside when ‘something came up’ and I forgot about the daily habit that I had created. Journaling gave me an opportunity to sort out all the thoughts that swarmed my busy mind and because of that, I have countless journals hidden throughout bookshelves in all of the places I have lived - each holding a story from a different stage of life. It felt like the most natural way to incorporate words into the experience of learning about myself. When trying to use words to connect with myself, I often turned to journaling. They gave me the opportunity to communicate with others, to connect with the outside world instead of live in my own head - but I cannot lie, they helped me figure out my inside world just as much. Whether it be writing or reading them, they were something I found comfort in. In the next step, multiply the rate by the amount in currency.
